As a women’s rights activist and Senior Gender Trainer, Anamitra has over three decades of experience in the development sector.

She has worked extensively with rural and urban communities of India especially in West Bengal and has been part of many renowned NGOs working on women’s and children rights issues in Kolkata like Swayam, CINI-ASHA, Sanlaap, Partibandhi Kalyan Kendra and networks like Maîtree, North East Network, Aman (national network for prevention of Domestic Violence), Bhabna. Her work area focused on programmes for community development,development of women and children in the red light areas and sponsorship and mainstreaming of children with disabilities.

As a Senior Gender Trainer Anamitra had been actively involved in planning, designing and facilitating training and workshops on issues of gender, violence against women, women's rights and other related issues. She has also been engaged in designing and conducting regular trainings at Sexual Harassment at the Workplace with organizations in Kolkata and nationally.
